In 2007, the number of business entities registered in the Business Register of Slovenia increased for the fourth consecutive year. At the end of 2007 it totaled 131,487; within that, 78,278 were natural persons and 53,189 legal entities. The predominant type among natural persons was sole proprietors. The predominant type of legal entities was limited liability companies, followed by general partnerships, limited partnerships and joint-stock companies. The first three legal forms of organization were most common in real estate, renting and business services and in wholesale and retail trade, and the repair of motor vehicles and consumer goods, while most joint-stock companies operated in manufacturing. In all quarters of the last four years except the first quarter of 2006, more business entities were established than closed down.
