The purpose of this study, which uses a survey, was to determine Vietnamese business manager's perception of public relations on a variety of issues, which include: 1. Do companies in Vietnam need their own public relations departments? 2. Is public relations needed in the university curriculum in Vietnam? 3. Is knowledge of public relations beneficial to college graduates in Vietnam? 4. Does a knowledge of public relations help college graduates perform their jobs more effectively? Additionally, this study also analyzed what public relations activities Vietnamese business managers thought were the most important. Despite for the limitations of the study, the results of this research does show promise for the practice of public relations in Vietnam. The positive responses towards public relations by the respondents of this research do imply that public relations in Vietnam is perceived to be an important business function, and it is one that has tremendous potential in the coming years.
