Energy Company CEO Calls for Elimination of Mine Accidents by ProQuest

According to CONSOL Energy Inc CEO J. Brett Harvey they can no longer run their mines with an unspoken assumption that a certain number of accidents are simply inherent in their business. That statement effectively summarizes his recent testimony before the Utah Mine Safety Commission. In the wake of the Crandall Canyon mine disaster, the commission has been charged with evaluating Utah's role in mine safety, accident prevention and accident response. In talking about the business imperative for zero accidents, Harvey called on government and industry to work together to eliminate all coal mining accidents.
