In an interview, Lou Holtz, legendary coach and former community bank director, talked about his philosophy on building a winning franchise. Holtz said a leader is someone who has a vision of where you want the organization to go. You have to have a plan of how you're going to take that organization there. You have to lead by example. Good jobs don't open up. Usually bad ones do. A losing situation is where a group of people are constantly criticizing one another. The thing you have to do is get people to work together. And that comes from requiring them to do the things it takes to be successful. Life is nothing more than a game. You have to have goals and objectives. It's easy in sports to identify what your goal or objective is -- and that is to win a game and have more points on the scoreboard.
