In all my years of being around celebrities I've never witnessed anything like the attitude of the rock 'n' roll KISS legend, who strode into the press tent emitting a kind of 'King'like presence that I could actually feel from my position at the end of the press lineup. It was fascinating to observe [Gene Simmons] in action, holding the enraptured press in the palm of his hand while systematically strolling down the entire lineup, never removing his jet-black tinted sunglasses as he spoke in an authoritative tone, sometimes taking a step back and speaking up just enough for more media to hear him on certain subjects. Simmons' impact was further enhanced because he walked flanked, arm-and-arm with a pair of lovely black-gowned attired blondes (longtime love Shannon Tweed and her sister [Tracy Tweed]). One of my questions for Simmons, who is starring with his family on the A&E channel reality series Gene Simmons Family Jewels, was: "on your series you often talk about what a good businessman you are and your ability to make money. Do you ever lecture on that format?" Simmons' "Yes, all the time," reply and subsequent example caused me to burst out laughing because of the imagery of him standing on stage in front of that particular audience. "As a matter of fact, this September in Washington D.C.," the "rock 'n' roll God" said matter-of-factly, "I'll be the keynote speaker at the AARP conference.'"
