At h 5 nm, the unit process is CLS of single dislocations bounded by interfaces. The CLS stress for the glide of an isolated dislocation roughly follows the scaling law: σ ∝ h^sup -1^ln(h/b). However, when compared to experimental data for Cu-Nb, it is seen that this scaling law does not quantitatively capture the layer thickness dependence of strength.
