Long term, it's possible that LED headlamps could dominate the market, [Brad Van Riper Sr] said. He cited a prediction made in the early 1990s by a prominent researcher that LEDs would double in output every 18 to 24 months. That forecast has proved to be the case so far, and if it continues, LEDs would become increasingly affordable, he said. "If we can get affordable LEDs, I think it's very possible that halogen and incandescent lights would disappear in the next 10 or more years."
