An obituary for Tomas Limon, who died on Nov 16, 2007, is presented. A Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara-educated chemical engineer, Limon designed, built, and operated a solvent extraction plant for soybeans ca. 1943 (he had to rectify his own hexane from gasoline!) and subsequently incorporated Aceitera Tapatia, which became a leader in extractions of specialty oilseeds and carotenoids.
