Trailer and truck body roofs are an integral part of the strength of the vehicle, notes Ron Robarts, applications engineer, transportation at Crane Composites, the manufacturers of Kemlite Transportation Products. They are designed, he says, to handle many stresses including tree branches, hail, forklift masts, and the racking and twisting of the trailer as it travels down the road. Current development in composite roofs, Robarts reports, is focused on making lighter, but also much stronger roofs, especially in terms of impact and puncture resistance. Kemlite Opaque Roof Panels, such as Reefer Roof are designed to maximize thermal performance in refrigerated or dry van bodies.
