About This Document: When Irish food retailer Superquinn joined forces with Information Transfer to develop a suite of e-learning materials to be available in every store for local managers to support staff, a greater understanding of food retail would be broadly shared around. Together, Superquinn and Information Transfer developed the "i-Learn" e-learning platform. The purpose of i-Learn was to deliver a huge range of bespoke e-learning content which is designed to meet the needs of Superquinn's colleagues and the changing environment. As part of its drive to improve profitability and efficiency by providing the best possible service and having excellent operational standards, all Superquinn staff needed to be trained to the same high standards. For Superquinn, 2007 was an exciting year for its exploration of e-learning. The company has seen an increase in knowledge among staff throughout the stores and increased flexibility through staff gaining knowledge of other departments without working in them. For Superquinn e-learning had a definite positive impact which has led the company to start to see and develop e-learning as an accepted part of the training department's tool.
