In an interview, Mark Kula, market financial analyst of Mars UK, talked about his responsibilities in the chocolate company and the award he won. Kula works on two segments: ice cream plus five non-chocolate brands: Starburst, Skittles, Lockets, Tunes and Aquadrops. He's responsible for ensuring that they achieve their financial goals and for helping to set long-term strategic targets. Product launches can require huge investments and may take time to pay back, so getting the analysis right first time is crucial. He won the title part-qualified of the year in the 2007 CIMA Financial management Awards. He was responsible for the financial side of the company to restructure the ice-cream business to bring it back into profit after several years of decline.
