The momentum for manager-to-employee communication seemed to be growing. But along came electronic communication, which took center stage and pushed face-to-face communication to the background. With the iPods and BlackBerry devices and more, electronic communication seems to overwhelm face-to-face communication. There is absolutely no question in the author's mind that face-to-face is the most value-added element in any employee communication program. Establish a face-to-face communication process for your employer. Build manager communication training and support programs. Striving to improve face-to-face communication in an organization is hard work. But it's rewarding work, because it's work that can, and does, make a difference.
