             Orientation Training Class and
        Administration of Written Screening Tests –
                       Raleigh, NC
Who should attend: Interpreters of all languages interested in becoming a NC state certified court
interpreter and interested in providing interpreting services to the NC state court system. Space is
limited to 34 attendees. Applicants will be chosen on a first-come first-served basis.
When:

  Orientation Training:    Wednesday, December 16, 2009 - 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
                           Thursday, December 17, 2009 - 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  Written Screening Tests: Friday, December 18, 2009 - 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 pm

Why:
  • Attending this course and passing both written screening tests is a PREREQUISITE for
  interpreters to be NC AOC contract eligible to provide interpreting services to the courts.
  • To educate court interpreters on the required ethics and canons of professional responsibility, the
  role of a court interpreter, and NCAOC policies regarding the use of foreign language interpreters;
  • To introduce methods of improving professional skills and tips for self study;
  • To administer written screening tests for language proficiency and contract eligibility;
  • To screen those foreign language interpreters seeking State Court Interpreter Certification


 Registration Fees: The cost of the orientation training class is $150.00, made payable to the
 Administrative Office of the Courts. Once an attendee is accepted into the class, the fee is
 nonrefundable. All applications must be postmarked on or before Friday, December 4, 2009.

Within a few days after the application deadline date of December 4, 2009, you will receive a
confirmation letter of your acceptance into the orientation training from Interpreting Services.

NC 27602. Please enclose with your application a check in the amount of $150.00 made
payable to Administrative Office of the Courts. Your application and check must be
postmarked on or before Friday, December 4, 2009. No late applications will be
accepted. Applicants will be chosen on a first-come, first-served basis. Please retain a
