IN RE: COURT INTERPRETER RULES
ADM~ISTWTIVE ORDER
WHEREAS, it has come to the Court’s attention that there may exist the need
for rules of procedure regarding Court Interpreters; and
WHEREAS, the matter has previously been studied by a workgroup within the
Office of the State Courts Administrator (OSCA); and
WHEREAS, the workgroup recommended changes to the Rules of Judicial
Administration; and
WHEREAS, the Court referred those changes to the Rules of Judicial
Administration Committee of The Florida Bar (the “Cornmittee”); and
WHEREAS, the Committee has recommended that the proposed rules should
be made by a group more knowledgeable with regard to the issues than the
Committee;
NOW THEREFORE, I, Harry Lee Anstead, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court
of Florida do hereby appoint the following circuit court chief judges to the Supreme
Court Interpreter’s Committee (SCIC) to study this matter and submit a report
regarding the need for rules and any proposed rules deemed warranted by the SCIC:
The Honorable Joseph P. Farina, Eleventh Judicial Circuit, Chair
The Honorable Stan R. Morris, Eighth Judicial Circuit
The Honorable Manuel Menendez, Jr., Thirteenth Judicial Circuit
The Honorable Judy Pittman, Fourteenth Judicial Circuit
The Honorable Edward H. Fine, Fifteenth Judicial Circuit
The SCIC should also consider whether any action, including statutory
revision, would be necessary or desirable by the Florida Legislature. If such action
is appropriate, the SCIC should recommend to this Court what recommendations
should be made to the Legislature. The report and any proposed rules shall be filed
with the Clerk of Court, Thomas D. Hall, on or before April 15, 2003.
Staffing for SCIC shall be provided by the OSCA.
