Mr. Chua Taik Him
Deputy Chief Executive Officer, International Enterprise Singapore
Mr Chua Taik Him is currently the Deputy Chief Executive Officer in International
Enterprise Singapore (IE Singapore). Prior to joining IE Singapore, he was the
Assistant Managing Director in charge of Enterprise Development and Asia
Pacific Operations in the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB). He
also held appointments as director of Industry Development Division, director of
International Business Development Division and assistant managing director in charge of
Enterprise Ecosystems & Planning. He obtained his B Engineering (Electronics) from the
University of Tokyo Japan in 1977 under the Singapore Government’s Public Service Commission
Overseas Merit Scholarship and MBA from the University of Toronto, Canada in 1983 under the
University of Toronto Master Scholarship. Mr Chua is also a graduate of Harvard Business School
1999 Advanced Management Programme (AMP). Prior to joining the EDB, he worked as a
Systems Engineer in Mindef and a Corporate Planner in Telecommunication Authority of
Singapore. He was based in the Singapore Embassy in Tokyo from 1984 to 1992 as Economic
Counsellor. He was awarded the Public Administration Award (Silver) in 1993 and Public
Administration Award (Gold) in 2007.

Dr. Kotaro Takemura
Secretary General, Japan Water Forum and Water Security Council of
Japan
Dr. Takemura joined the Ministry of Construction in 1970. He took the position of
Director-General, Kinki Regional Construction Bureau and of Director-General,
River Bureau, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. He has been the
President of the Foundation for Riverfront Improvement and Restoration since
2004 and Secretary General of the Japan Water Forum since June, 2006.

Dr. Yoshiaki Nakamura
Director, Ministry of Trade, Economy and Industry
Dr. Nakamura obtained his Master of Engineering at the Graduate School of
Waseda University in 1987 and he then joined the Ministry of International Trade
and Industry (MITI). He also obtained his Master of Science at Stanford
University in 1996 and his Ph.D. at Tokyo Institute of Technology in 2001. He
served as Director of the Kanto Bureau, METI (Ministry of Economy, Trade and
Industry) from 2002, as Director of the Environmental Industries Office at METI
from 2004, and as Senior Coordinator for Advanced Cargo Transport Systems Promoter at the
Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MLIT). He has served as Director of
Environmental Protection Guidance Office at METI since 2007.
Mr. Takashi Hongo, Special Advisor and Head of Environment
Finance Engineering Department, Japan Bank for International
Cooperation
Mr. Hongo joined the Export-Import Bank of Japan and has taken the
current position since 2006. He has been helping develop new frontiers,
such as carbon trading market in Japan including Carbon Credit Trading
Platform, Nikkei-JBIC Carbon Price Quotation, and Market Approach Adaptation in addition to
engaging in financing operations for GHG emission reduction projects. He proposed ‘Energy
Efficiency Target and Environment Finance’ for promoting low carbon investment. He contributes
numbers of committees and task forces in Climate Change and energy field.

Dr. Masaru Kurihara
Chairman of Consultative Committee, Global Water Recycle System
Association Japan / Executive Advisor, Toray Industries, Inc.
Dr. Kurihara is Advisor to Toray Industries, Inc. He graduated from Gunma
University, Technical Department, Applied Chemistry in 1963 and obtained his
doctor degree of dissertation at the University of Tokyo in 1970. He Joined Toray
Industries, Inc and was registered as a research fellow in 1992. He assumes the
position of senior director and has been the advisor since 2006. He presently also serves as
Director of International Desalination Association (IDA), President of Asia Pacific Desalination
Association (APDA), President of Japan Desalination Association (JDA) and Managing Director of
Japan, Membrane Separation Association (APDA).

Mr. Yoshichika Terasawa, Managing Director of JETRO Singapore
Mr. Terasawa joined JETRO in 1973. He was assigned at overseas offices in
Chicago and Toronto and has been at the present position since September
2006. At JETRO Headquarters in Tokyo, he took the position of Director-General,
Trade Fair Department and has been involving many international exhibitions
and world expositions both Japan and abroad including the Secretary-General of
Japan Pavilion, Hannover Expo 2000, Germany. He served for several
committees as an expert in the international exhibitions, design, and MICE events including the
Expert Committee Member on the Grand Egyptian Museum.
