            Deputy Mayor’s Foreign Visits
            Question No: 246 / 2008
            Richard Barnes

Will the Mayor of London list every foreign visit made by the deputy Mayor in her
role as Deputy Mayor, the purpose of the visit, the cost of each visit and who paid
            for the trip.

            Purpose of Visits:

Most of these visits were for the purpose of strengthening international cooperation in
tackling climate change between cities and establishing what is now the C40 Cities
            Climate Leadership Group.

This collaboration between the world‟s largest cities has attracted widespread attention
and support from throughout the world for its innovative and pioneering work and the
C40 has now partnered with the Clinton Climate Initiative as its service organisation.
Cities are crucial in tackling climate change. London‟s leadership is widely recognised, but
a city like London cannot act in isolation.

Only completions with proposed residential units and a
residential site area are included. Permissions granted prior to
01/04/2004 have been excluded as site areas and changes in
open space were not collected until then.

Schemes are considered to be complete when completion dates
have been entered for all of the proposed elements. Parts of the
scheme may have been completed in previous years.
