   Classical Music Library
   Classical Music Library is a classical music collection for sound recordings. It currently
   include over 20,000 licensed recordings from some of the most respected classical music
   labels in the US, UK and Europe, thousands of program notes, composer biographies,
   and images and hundreds of recommended classical music play lists presented by

   Naxos Music Library
   Naxos Music Library is a comprehensive collection of classical music online.
   It containing the complete Naxos, Marco Polo and Da Capo catalogues of over 75,000
   digitally recorded tracks, along with detailed composer and recording information.

   The Music Index
   This database indexes an extensive range of international music journals between 1979-
   1998. A broad range of subjects is covered, including past and present personalities, the
   history of music, forms and types of music, musical instruments from the earliest times
   to modern electronic instruments, plus computer produced music.

   Oxford Music Online
   Formerly known as Grove Music Online, Oxford Music Online includes the full text of
   Grove Music Online, the Encyclopedia of Popular Music, the Oxford Companion to Music
   and the Oxford Dictionary of Music. It covers the entire history of music from Bach to
   the Blues, with broad coverage of musical styles. It includes biographies, sound
   archives, illustrations and links to music internet sites.
   Also available remotely for e-services card holders and Queensland public library (QPL)
   account holders.

  E-Music Quest
   E-Music-Quest is the online version of the Music-In-Print series, which seeks to index all
   music currently in print throughout the world. It provides publisher and price details. It
   can be searched by composer, title or keyword. It contains sacred choral, classical vocal,
   orchestral, strings, classical guitar, woodwind, piano, and miscellaneous Music-In- Print.

How can I access these online music databases?
           Go to the State Library website:
           Select Catalogues form the Find menu.
           Click on Find Databases (top right hand side of the screen).
           Click on the Subject tab (third option from the left), select Music from the menu and then click on GO.

Useful music websites:
The Aria Database
The Aria Database is a collection of information about opera and operatic arias. Besides providing basic
information about each aria, the database includes translations for many arias and aria texts for those that
are not affected by copyright restrictions. The database also provides access to a collection of operatic MIDI
files to give visitors an idea of what each aria sounds like. Currently, the database holds information on the
complete operatic aria collections of Mozart, Verdi, Berlioz, Wagner, and Puccini as well as the partial
collections of over 50 other composers.

Opera Glass
This website contains libretti, source texts, performance histories, plot synopses and discographies for many
operas. It also includes a directory of opera composers, librettists, operas, companies and performers.

Instrument Encyclopedia
A collection of musical instruments from around the world, with descriptions, photographs and sound
example when available.

Music theory online: A journal of criticism commentary research and scholarship
This is a refereed, electronic journal featuring articles, book reviews, reports, sound files, conference
announcements, dissertations abstracts and lists of job opportunities in the field of music.

Free online sheet music and guitar tabs

        Sheet Music Archive:
        The site provides access to free public domain classical sheet music. Most of the classical sheet music
        on the site is piano music, but does include any kind of music (orchestral, lieder, violin sonatas, etc.).
        The sheet music is available in pdf format and requires Adobe Acrobat for viewing.

        International Music Score Library
        This site provide access to free public domain classical sheet music as well as scores from
        composers who are willing to share their music with the world.
        Chordie is the ultimate source for finding just the songs you are looking for. Most of the songs have
        graphical chord grids, and can automatically be transposed to a different key. All genres, including
        rock, pop, jazz, country and blues.

Music Australia
Music Australia is an online service developed by the National Library of Australia and the National Film and
Sound Archive (a division of the Australian Film Commission). Music Australia helps you to find, access and
navigate a rich store of information on Australian music, musicians, organisations and services from a single
access point. You can find music scores, sound recordings, websites and a range of other music-related
material held by a large number of Australia's cultural institutions or described by specialist music services.
