MARKETING SUB-COMMITTEE VACANCIES Scotland Regional Committee is looking for volunteers who feel they can help promote dressage, increase awareness and develop participation and communication within Scotland. Areas which we would like to focus on initially include: Generation of copy for the editor of the regional newsletter: Email address capture: Email marketing: Press Awareness and PR: Social Events and functions: Sponsorship: Facebook Site and Twitter. The ideal candidates would require enthusiasm, boundless energy and the ability to think outside of the box. Applications close on 31 January 2010. 2009 AWARDS The following riders received annual awards at the supper/ceilidh dance evening held at Rowallan on 27 November. All riders who represented Scotland in either BYRDS or senior teams were presented with a certificate and team badge. A total of 67 attended the evening and a great time was had by one and all. Proficiency badges are also awarded and testing for the proficiency badges is usually done at camps Team Selectors for 2010 are Mary McFarlane, Les Smith and Cecilia Gladwyn RIDER TRAINING. 2010 SENIOR TEAM COMPETITIONS: Keysoe Senior Inter-regional, Bedfordshire 22/23 May Entry restrictions: 18 years old and over (01/01/10) from groups 8 – 3 who have not and will not have competed at Winter Championships and National Championships in the current or preceding year or BYRDS Inter Regional competition in 2010. Teams to comprise: Prelim from Group 7/8, Novice from Groups 6 – 8, Elementary from Group 5 – 8 and Medium from Group 4 – 8. There will also be an Individual Advanced Medium/PSG Champion from group 3 – 8 riders. Senior Home International, Crofton Manor, Hants 9/10 October. Further details about teams will be sent later. A Sports Science Seminar will be held on Sunday 18 April in the Arran Room, Oatridge College, West Lothian. This Seminar is open to all coaches, instructors and riders. Details will be emailed when finalised. SCOTTISH CHAMPIONSHIPS. Rule 170 in 2010 BD Rule book. Rules will be posted on both web pages. Qualifiers for the Scottish Championships will run from 1 December 2009 to 31 July 2010. The Championships will take place at Ingliston Equestrian Centre, Bishopton, Renfrewshire on 4/5 September 2010. st nd a) 1 and 2 in each Scottish Championship qualifying class will qualify. The qualifiers will be held via NON Qualifying Regional Championship classes and if there are no NQ classes being run then the qualifiers will run in conjunction with the Regional Championship Qualifying classes. b) Qualifying percentages for 2010 - Restricted section at Prelim with 65% or above Open and Restricted section at Novice with 65% or above Open and Restricted section at Elementary with 63% or above Open and Restricted section at Medium with 60% or above Open and Restricted section at Advanced Medium with 60% or above PSG with 60% or above c) In accordance with BD rules, rosettes will be given for each section but prize money, where awarded, will be given to the highest placed rider over the 2 sections. Trophies will be awarded to each section. d) A qualifying letter will be given to all qualifiers on the day. It is up to the competitor to ensure that they receive their qualifying letter from the organiser. Competitors must register their intent to compete at the Scottish Championships by returning the tear off section of the qualifying letter to Jackie Gray, The Kennels Cottage, Ormiston Farm Steading, Leyden Road, Kirknewston, EH27 8DQ within 14 days of the date of the competition. Failure to correctly record your qualification could mean that riders will be unable to take part in the championships. e) As per British Dressage rules only group 7 and 8 riders competing on unregistered horses or horses with less than 49 points are eligible for Preliminary classes. Unregistered horses will have to be registered prior to the Scottish Championships. f) As per Championship rules all entries will be drawn for starting times. SCOTTISH & NORTHERN EQUESTRIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS. The Championship will take place at SNEC, West Lothian on 23/24 October. Rules will be posted on web page and sent by email when available. ROWALLAN SCOTTISH MASTERS. A copy of the rules for the Rowallan Scottish Masters with Hickstead qualifiers will be available on the BD and Scottish Dressage web page. If you require a copy of the rules to be sent to you please send a SAE to Cecilia Gladwyn. The top four from the Masters from Prelim to PSG will qualify for the Hickstead Dressage Masters on 26/27 July. The Rowallan masters will be held on 12/13 June. It is now impossible to deal with the numerous requests from members and non members to forward information about the sales of horses etc. A new style newsletter is in the process of being set up and there will be advertising space available in the newsletter and details of costs of advertising will be forwarded in due course. In the meantime any requests to forward emails about the sale of horses will incur a charge of £10 which will be payable prior to the information being forwarded on.
