At St. Catherine’s, traditionally students receive First Reconciliation and First Eucharist in 2nd grade. If your older child still needs to receive these Sacraments, we offer this preparation session for children in 3rd – 5th grades. Parents will need to meet with the Elementary Director to discuss the family’s particular situation before the child can be placed in this session. ELEMENTARY RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

__ Catechist: Responsible for planning and leading weekly sessions. Circle Grade 1 2 3 4 5 __ Assistant Catechist: Help the catechist lead weekly sessions. Circle Grade 1 2 3 4 5 __ Substitute: Lead the session when the catechist is unavailable. Circle Grade 1 2 3 4 5 __ Music Minister : Teach songs to children in grades 1st – 5th during the R.E. sessions. __ Nursery Aide: Help the nursery staff care for catechists’ children during R.E. sessions. __ Office Aide: Help in the R.E. office. Tasks include answering phones, filing, photocopying, and organizing materials during the R.E. session. The Catholic Diocese of Austin requires that ALL volunteers working with children complete a background check and attend the “Protecting God’s Children” workshop. *Registration fees are waived for WEEKLY volunteers. Sacramental, Late and Non-parish fees still apply.
