Dear HREM Administrators,

I am pleased to announce that nominations are now being accepted for the Student Employee of
the Year (SEOTY) Award sponsored by the Northeast Association of Student Employment
Administrators (NEASEA) and the National Student Employment Association (NSEA). This is
the 11th year that Carnegie Mellon is participating in this award program which recognizes the
outstanding contributions of college students who work while attending college. All student
employees, undergraduate and graduate, are eligible.

The contributions made by all student employees are important; however this award seeks to
acknowledge the student whose performance is exceptional. Nominees will be judged on
reliability, quality of work, initiative, attitude and contribution to the department. Students should
have a track record of producing quality work and communicating effectively with, students,
staff, faculty, and/or parents.

The SEOTY nomination process requires the submission of 3 items:
1. 2010 SEOTY Campus Nomination Form
2. Letter describing the student’s accomplishments and qualifications for this award
3. Student Job Description for nominee
These 3 items must be submitted as an email attachment to pk13@andrew.cmu.edu by Feb. 19th.

The SEOTY Campus Nomination Process and the Nomination Form is attached to this message
and also available on the Student Employment website: www.cmu.edu/studentemployment.

All nominated students will be recognized and honored at the Student Employee Appreciation
Lunch on April 7, 2010. The student selected as Carnegie Mellon’s Student Employee of the Year
2010 will be announced and presented with a $100 US Savings bond.

Please assist me in recognizing the outstanding work of student employees by submitting a
nomination. Since this email is sent to HREM administrators only, I ask you to forward it on to
staff and faculty in your office who hire student employees.

Thanks for your continued support of our student employees and the Student Employment
Program. If you have any questions, reply to this message or call me at 268.7052.
