Technology Transfer Center
Director:
Matthew Ming-Fai YUEN, BSc(Eng) Hong Kong; PhD Bristol
(Professor of Mechanical Engineering)
The Technology Transfer Center (TTC) serves as a bridge between HKUST faculty
and the business community. TTC identifies collaborative opportunities in the local,
regional and international markets based on HKUST’s research strengths. It monitors
primary and emerging fields of research within HKUST for early recognition of joint
development opportunities with commercial partners. TTC assists faculty to transfer
technology to the commercial domain to ensure optimization of benefits to all parties
involved. In short, TTC is the technical marketing arm of the University.
TTC provides an interface between academic and applied research within HKUST
and all areas of commerce and industry. It seeks to work for the mutual benefit of all
parties engaged in technology development and transfer. The mode of collaboration
with commercial partners can be in the form of collaborative research and technology
development, consulting and testing, or licensing arrangements. TTC is the first contact
point for all commercial contracts with private sector organizations. Collaborative R&D
contracts will be handled by TTC, while all consulting, testing, and technology licensing
contracts will be handled by Hong Kong University of Science and Technology R and D
Corporation Limited.
