Jewish Environmentalism On the brink of completing its sixth decade, the Sate of Israel faces a myriad of environmental challenges. Some of these challenges are global, such as global warming, others regional, like water management, and some are particular to Israel alone. In this course we will introduce and discuss a selection of these environmental issues, exploring and analyzing them primarily from a Jewish perspective – in that what we will focus on a challenge that Israel and Israelis as citizens of a Jewish state, face alone. We will focus mainly on issues of the Negev, challenged further yet, as the periphery of Israel.
