Habitat for Humanity launches STAR HomeTouch
Habitat for Humanity partners Star Furniture in monthly ‘Operation Homeworks’
                            elderly care program

Singapore, 26 July 2008: Habitat for Humanity Singapore and Star Furniture
Group announce the launch of STAR HomeTouch – a community initiative to
provide furniture to the needy elderly in Singapore.

Star Furniture will support Habitat for Humanity’s monthly clean up of the one-
room flats of the elderly, by sponsoring furniture to furnish the homes of the
elderly during Operation Homeworks.

Operation Homeworks was initiated in September 2006 when Habitat for
Humanity identified that the elderly people face many problems due to aging
health. This project has served many and also brings together many volunteers
who lend their weekends to create a safe, clean and healthy environment for the
elderly.

Announcing the partnership, Mr. Kenny Koh, Managing Director of Star Furniture
Group said, “Star Furniture Group has a culture for social responsibility and
corporate volunteering. We are delighted to work with Habitat for Humanity to
reach out to bring more comfort into the homes of the elderly. STAR HomeTouch
in conjunction with Operation Homeworks will contribute free furniture pieces to
flats that are in need of some basic furniture.”

Habitat for Humanity exists with ONE simple vision – A World Where Everyone
Has a Decent Place to Live. Through Operation Homeworks, Habitat helps to
improve the safety and sanitation of their homes by fumigating the flats, many of
which are bed bug infested, cleaning up, packing stuff, clearing away unwanted
things, providing proper storage and changing the mattresses and beds infested
with bed bugs. Improving sanitation will also mean better living conditions for
families and reduce incidences of illnesses.

Every month, STAR HomeTouch will deliver furniture from Star Furniture Group
to the elderly through Habitat for Humanity. The STAR HomeTouch will be an
ongoing initiative proprietary to Star Furniture Group and Habitat for Humanity.

Habitat for Humanity (HFH) is a non-profit, Christian housing ministry. HFH seeks
to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make
decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.

Habitat invites people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build houses
together in partnership with families in need.

In Singapore, Habitat engages in advocacy activities by helping the
underprivileged i.e. ‘Operation Homeworks’ where they clean the houses of the
elderly poor living in one-room rental flats. Other activities include the 2004
Tsunami, where Habitat built 1,500 houses in Meulaboh, Indonesia (made
possible with funding from the Singapore Red Cross Tidal Waves Fund); House
