Minutes of Knights of Columbus Council 700
Date: February 11, 2010
Call to order: G.K. Ed Hau called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. and led the opening prayer.

Reading of minutes:
A motion was made a seconded to waive the reading of the minutes from last meeting. Passed by
Applications for membership
Initiation of new members:
1st degree initiation was held for the following new members: Dan Sinnot, Tom Sinnot, Andrew
Wolter, Michael McGonegle, Anthony McGrane and Gary Steen.
Grand Knight’s Report:
The Ancient Order of Hibernians and Council 700 is hosting an event on St. Patrick’s Day. Mass will
be held at Queen of Peace followed by a short program at Sullivan Park. Food and beverage will be
at the club at 1:00 p.m.
Thank you to Dana Jenson and all who helped at the spelling bee this past weekend. Approximately
40 youth participated from the local Catholic shools.
Thank you to Jack and Jeannette Heintz for hosting this year’s Nun’s Party this Sunday, Feb. 15.
A reminder that Council 700 is hosting this year’s State Knights of Columbus Golf Tournament,
Saturday, July 17 at Red Carpet Golf. All are welcome to attend the next planning meeting Saturday,
Feb. 27 at 12:30 p.m.
The Treasurer’s report was reviewed. A motion was made and seconded to approve. Passed by
Joe Wilson of Northeast Iowa Special Olympics addressed the group. He discussed the Special
Olympic events held each and thanked the Knights of Columbus for their past support. G.K. Ed Hau
presented Joe with a check for $1621.80 for Northeast Iowa Special Olympics. This money was from
last year’s Tootsie Roll Drive.
Mike Babinat discussed this year’s Special Olympics spring games to be held March 28 in the Uni
Dome. All are welcome to volunteer to help at the event. Contact Mike Babinat or Ed if interested.
Financial Secretary’s Report:
Approximately 250 to 260 members have paid their dues to date.
In the absence of Advocate John McCoy a motion was made and seconded to table discussion on
the articles of incorporation and nomination of directors to the Home Corporation. Passed by voice
All members are urged to supply their email address in order to receive the bulletin and other
communications electronically. This helps reduce the cost to the council and provide weekly updates
to the members.

D.D. Richard Kayser reminded the council to register their delegates for the upcoming State
Convention. He advised of an omelet breakfast to be held Sunday, Feb. 28 at the Gilbertville Legion

A motion was made and seconded to adjourn. Passed by voice vote.
