The aim of the Guild of the Armenian Guides is to revive the rich traditions of the Armenian school of
guides that existed in the former times, to work constantly on the improvement of professional skills of
the presently working guides, to cooperate actively with the governmental institutions involved with
tourism industry such as the Board of Tourism, as well as with the public tourism-related organizations
in our country and abroad.
At one of the founders’ meetings together with the Charter of the Organization the first main
documents for the membership in the Guild: “Code of Honour” and “The Code of Ethics and Skills” were
adopted. Both these documents were approved by the General Meeting of the guild members.
At present the Guild numbers over 20 members and has a tendency towards the increase of its
membership. Members of the Guild of the Armenian guides conduct tours both in their mother
tongue, as well as in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish and Russian.
At the first meeting of the Guild it was decided to join the World Federation of Tourist Guides
Association (WFTGA). Since September 2005 we are member of WFTGA. Thanks to the help of CAPS in
October 2006 we’ve participated on the Training which was organized by World Federation of Tourist
Guides Association (WFTGA) for our members and we have now 4 trainers two of them are since
February 2008 the Trainers of International category.
2007 we have participated at the 12th Convention of WFTGA in Cairo. In January 2009 we’ll go to the
13th Convention of WFTGA in Bali where we’re intending to promote Armenia as a place to organize
the 14th Convention in 2011.
