                                            College Essay Writing Workshop
   Dear Junior Parents,

From my personal and professional experience, writing the college essay has become a dreaded and stressful task for high
school seniors. I have witnessed this firsthand with my own children as well as with the students I encounter in my role as
both a counselor and teacher. “I don’t even know where to begin” is the most common response I get when questioning
   students about the subject.

As a result, I’ve decided to initiate a College Essay Writing Workshop. The ultimate goal of this workshop is to have your
student’s college essay written to perfection and “ready to go,” prior to their first day of senior year. In essence, this will
allow them more freedom to focus on the overwhelming college application process without worrying about their college
   essay.

The workshop will begin as a 3.5-hour working session where your child will be assigned a college essay-writing specialist.
I have carefully selected these writing specialists and their credentials support their expertise in this area. The student to
teacher ratio will be 10 to 1. This workshop will take your student from concept formation to writing the rough draft. The
remainder of the workshop will continue with a one-on-one on-line exchange between the teacher and the student to refine
the finished product. I expect there will be approximately three draft versions of the final essay. Within 6 weeks (or sooner),
the final college essay will be completed and will be e-mailed to you from the student’s teacher.

   Some important information…
      • Although this course is geared toward completion of the main college essay, your student will be taught writing
techniques that will be applicable to all of their supplemental essays.
      • Some high school English teachers choose to make essay writing a part of their curriculum. This workshop is not a
replacement for this exercise. It is more of a “jump start” program for those who want to have this part of the college
          process completed early on.
      • Each student will be provided with a valuable college essay-writing literary guide, compiled by a certified high
school teacher, who teaches college writing. This individual will be assuming the role as the academic head of the
          program.
      • All essays will be double-proofed by two writing specialists.
      • You will be notified immediately if your student is not responding to the teacher’s e-mails following the workshop.
It is the responsibility of the student to respond to his or her teacher’s e-mails. If your student is not capable of doing
this, this course is not appropriate for him or her.
      • The course will officially end within six weeks of its start date, giving plenty of time for the refinement stage.
      • The college essay produced is in no way a guarantee of acceptance to any college.

I am very excited and thrilled to meet you and have the opportunity to coordinate this wonderful workshop for our students.

                                                               Sincerely,

                                                            Jean Burnbaum
