Stronger production in manufacturing in April is largely attributable to the higher number of working days. Growth totaled 9.6%, year on year. The acceleration following the slowdown in March was largely a result of the three working days more compared to April 2007. The bulk of the increase in the real volume of sales was realized on foreign markets. In the first four months, the sales of manufacturing companies' products increased by 4.8% on average compared to the same period last year. Growth in the volume of sales on foreign markets is stronger than on the domestic market, but prices continue to increase at a slower rate.
