GMO Compass - an EU-based group of independent science journalists - reports on its website that nearly 84% of survey respondents feel European agriculture should avail themselves to genetic engineering and biotech technologies, if its effects on the environment and world nutrition were postive. Furthermore, it cites that 56% of the respondents of a German survey would consume GMO plants if the global food situation could be improved. Even the Vatican is weighing in on the issue.
