Mike Alcock, managing director, Atlantic Link, kicked off the rapid e-learning, Dumbing down or gearing up, conference at Holborn Bars on May 22. One of the highlights of the conference was the debate. It took the structure of a motion: "We believe rapid design and development processes represent as much a threat to the e-learning community as they do an opportunity." The team supporting the motion argued that people who don't know about how to teach, will use rapid e-learning tools to create content that is just information rather than effective learning material. Meanwhile the opposing team contended that while there is a market for this style of e-learning it should be used.
