On July 19, 2007, the American Red Cross in Puerto Rico has notified the Puerto Rico Department of Health of the three persons whose blood donations were positive for West Nile virus (WNV) by nucleic acid-amplification test screening. Aponte et al describe these human infections and other recent surveillance for transmission of WNV in Puerto Rico. A CDC is also presented.
