What's your poison? by ProQuest

Hardly a day goes by without a government minister announcing that some firm or other is harming the general public. Sometimes it is right. If a pharmaceutical company peddles a new drug that turns out to have deeply unpleasant side-effects in a significant number of cases, then it's clear that it should take it off the market. If your company manufactures chocolate, you may have scored brownie points in the 19th century for helping to wean the working classes off alcohol, but now you're one of the main culprits behind the obesity "epidemic". After tobacco, alcohol is probably the next biggest threat to civilization as people know it. Next on the hate list is fattening food, which, when it comes down to it, often means anything eaten by the working classes or children.
