More than 4,500 current and future healthcare executives recently gathered in Chicago to participate in various seminars, lectures, ceremonies and networking opportunities offered at American College of Healthcare Executives' (ACHE's) 51st Congress on Healthcare Leadership. At the meeting, attendees discussed and learned about new trends in the evolving healthcare management field. ACHE's 2008-2009 chairman BG David A. Rubenstein challenged healthcare professionals to build on the initial spirit of ACHE's founding members 75 years ago. Mark J. Howard, FACHE, was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the US Air Force, beginning his military career in healthcare management as an assistant administrator for the 75th TAC Hospital at Bergstrom Air Force Base in Texas in 1969. Francis J. Cronin Jr, LFACHE, was named this year's winner of ACHE's Lifetime Service Award. Cronin received the award during the Malcolm T. MacEachern Memorial Lecture and Luncheon on Tuesday, March 11.
