In the paper, the compared shear strength was also normalized with respect to the square root of the compressive strength to reduce the effect of the difference in concrete strength of the beams considered. Shear capacity of deep beams predicted by strut-and-tie models decreases with the increase of shear span-to-overall depth ratio as the inclination of the concrete strut between the applied load and support reduces, as shown in Fig. 10 of the paper.
