During the experience, they describe, analyze, interpret and judge their own sculptures; name and describe the four basic techniques used by sculptors; and are able to name at least two sculptors and their works of art. In "HeadMaking with Sophistication" (page 26). mlddle-schoolers apply design principles to their works, gain dexterity by manipulating paper strips and modeling compound, and gain appreciation of decorative arts in various cultures-all while producing a wearable necklace.
