Dear Parents,

It’s that great time of the year when we have an opportunity to celebrate our students’
gifts and talents! On Saturday April 10, 2010, Bishop Grimes High School will host
the annual Academic Games. This Academic competition is offered to students in
grades K-6. The purpose of this event is:
 to develop self-esteem and dignity through excellence in academic/cultural
   achievement
 to interact and socialize with students from neighboring Catholic schools
 to promote quality Catholic education
 to have FUN!

Event categories include Math, Science, Oratory, Drawing/Painting, Spelling, Vocal,
Essay & Religion. Eligible students may enter more than one category. A description
of each event is enclosed. Contestants compete on an individual basis and must be
accompanied by an adult throughout the day. Test papers will not be returned.

Please note: Kindergartners are eligible to participate only in the following
categories: Drawing/Painting, Oratory, Vocal, Religion and Science.

If your child/children are participating, please complete the enclosed application and
return it to your school office by Friday, March 5th, along with completed entries in
Drawing/Painting, Essay, and Religion categories. These entries will be judged prior
to the event and displayed at the games. Students may pick up projects after
participating in their last event of the day.

1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbons will be awarded to winners in each event at every grade
level. Honorable mention ribbons may be awarded in some categories. Every student
will receive a Participation Ribbon.

Event Descriptions are enclosed to provide you and your child more info for each
category. Please call the Bishop Grimes office (315 437-0356) with questions.

Sincerely,

Terry Bailey
Academic Games Chairperson
