DROP.IO HTTP://DROP.IO GET THIS HANDOUT AND OTHER RELATED RESOURCES AT: ITECHLAB.SIERRACOLLEGE.EDU Drop.io is an easy, effective way to create a central online depository for media files that can be “dropped” into the site through direct upload, email, a telephone or fax. Potential Uses for Educators: Make your own drop! 1. Go to http://drop.io 2. Enter your “Drop Name” in the top box. (Note: this will be the actual url for your new drop so try to make it easy to remember.) 3. Your Drop’s URL is: ___________________________ 4. The Admin Log In password is ___________________________ 5. Your drop’s email address is: ___________________________ 6. Your drop’s voicemail is: ___________________________ 7. Your drop’s con-call number is: ___________________________ 8. Customize the settings of your drop to personalize it. 9. Send an email, leave a voicemail or upload a file directly to your drop! • Facilitates file management for individuals with multiple email accounts - send all those files to your online drop and access them from any computer! • Use your drop as a central repository for department communications (drops can be password protected too!) • Embrace the power of the human voice in online teaching! Use your phone to record an audio message an your online students, then go to your drop and email the individual files to each student. • Use your drop as a collaborative space for students to submit assignments or share project documents with each other. • Share this tool with your students as a way for them to facilitate their own group project.
