The original model of performing cataloging with OCLC involved having a relatively small number of terminals and having catalogers or their support staff schedule time on them. The traditional route has been the systems librarian with a graduate degree in library science (or equivalent) with a specialization in technology and automation gained either academically or through subsequent job experiences.
