DOCUMENT INFO
Description: Multimedia teaching and learning approaches in gerontology and geriatrics were examined through an extensive literature review and Internet search, and comparison with guidelines developed by the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education. Systematic research investigating scientific foundations for multimedia design in gerontology and geriatrics technology-based or technology-enhanced teaching strategies were not found. The seven principles of good practice, the psychological principles of learner-centered teaching, and Mayer's principles of multimedia design are described as a point of convergence among learner, instructor, and learning environment. This point of convergence is suggested as a starting point for research in the efficacy of multimedia design in gerontology and geriatrics. [PUBLICATION ABSTRACT]
