About This Document: Researchers from Harvard Medical School sought to identify the precursors of adolescent alcohol use and binge drinking with a goal of using this information to help design strategies aimed at prevention. Awareness of televised beer ads was associated with alcohol use among preadolescent boys, and an increased exposure to alcohol advertising among older adolescents was correlated with positive attitudes about alcohol and an intention to drink.
