Researchers have speculated that physical activity might help prevent ovarian cancer by regulating hormone and growth factor levels; enhancing the immune system; improving the antioxidant defense system; and reducing obesity, which increases ovarian cancer risk. The results suggested there might be a dose-response effect of physical activity on ovarian cancer risk, although only the findings on medium levels of physical activity were statistically significant.
