If the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) attendees are concerned that there may be less swag to reap and parties to attend because of the economic downturn, they are in for a pleasant surprise. In fact, a number of exhibitors are spending more this year on the SHRM Annual Conference & Exposition than they have before. For many exhibitors, the SHRM conference presents the biggest opportunity of the year to reach out to their core audience, so cutting their budgets for this event is not an option. The company has opted for a bigger booth this year -- going with a 30-by-30-foot presence instead of a 20-by-20 space. Visitors to the booth can dive into the stack of journals and pens that TheLadders, com will be giving away. Monster decided to bring back its Sunday-night party this year to give its executives more time to mingle with attendees, said Steve Sylven, a company spokesman.
