The number of unemployed and unemployment rates in Slovenia dropped sharply in 2007. In December, 68,411 persons were registered as unemployed at the Employment Service of Slovenia, down 12.8% from December 2006. On average, 71,336 persons were registered as unemployed in 2007, 16.9% fewer than in 2006. The number of unemployed declined in 2007, largely due to smaller inflows to unemployment. Although the total number of registered unemployed fell substantially, the smallest decrease was recorded in the number of highly educated unemployed, whereas the number of those aged over 50 even increased.
