Dr. Ewing was born in Kirkburton, England. After graduating from medical school, he served 4 years in the Royal Air Force. In 1964, he immigrated to Canada with his family, where he continued his professional career in cardiology and internal medicine. He established the renal dialysis unit and was the head of medicine at the Regina General Hospital. Later, he became the medical director of the Allan Blair Cancer Centre in Regina and was a professor of medicine at the University of Saskatchewan. He was influential in the building of the new cancer centre in Regina in 1996 and a medical laboratory was named in his honour. After retiring to Vancouver Island, he enjoyed gardening, boating and playing bridge.
