When Oceanology International 2008 (OI08) opens at London, England's ExCeL center on March 11, global concerns about climate change and future energy resources are expected to be a major focus of interest, as attention increasingly falls on the role of the oceans. Long established as a key pan-industry event for everyone involved with ocean science and marine technology, it has rarely attracted much attention beyond its specialized clientele, organizers said. That is expected to change this year since oceanology is seen as a key science in the quest for a solution to global warming.
