Two days before his decisive victory in the New Hampshire Republican primary, Arizona Sen. John McCain was asked by Tim Russert on NBC's "Meet the Press:" "Do you believe that voting against the Bush tax cuts was a mistake?" Sen. McCain replied quickly, "Of course not." The campaign of former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, trying to stop McCain in the Michigan and South Carolina Republican primaries, e-mailed a broadside last Thursday ("Straight Talk Detour") listing McCain's record of opposition to President George W. Bush's tax cuts.
