In 1930, a teacher and mentor suggested Wengenroth try his hand at lithography, the printing process that would become the focus of his artistic career. His timing was perfect, as it was at this point in the century when lithography was moving beyond merely a practical method of reproducing illustrations for commercial purposes and becoming more widely accepted as a fine-arts process.
