Wanted: Senior leaders at the local level

Since the author began his career in health-care management, senior leaders have never been busier. Today's demands have grown to include dealing with unhappy clinicians, caring for a demanding public and managing with inadequate financial resources. Regardless of the situation they face, healthcare executives still are asked to achieve better results. Senior leaders should encourage younger executives to get involved with chapters, expanding their leadership skills through volunteering and exploring valuable networking opportunities. Even in the busiest times, they need to think about the future and help the next generation of leaders become successful healthcare executives, reinforcing the fact that they are leaders who care.
