TRAINING COURSE FOR OPERATORS OF THE RODOS SYSTEM
Target group: Persons interacting directly with the real-time on-line decision support system RODOS for nuclear off-site emergency management, in particular operators. Participants must be experienced with the operation of UNIX based workstations and / or advanced PCs (Windows NT), and should have basic knowledge in radiation protection and off-site emergency management.
LIST OF TOPICS Coupling of RODOS to local and national data networks Operation of the user interface and supporting system tools Performance of RODOS runs in the interactive mode to obtain results at different levels of information processing Operation of RODOS in the automatic mode Selection of results, their visualisation on the screen and in the form of paper output Exercise of a simulated emergency situation Customisation of the training course to national conditions
Contents: Short presentations will be made on the functionality of the RODOS system, its user interface, the coupling to radiological and meteorological data networks, the visualisation of real-time data, the input of data, the different modes of operation, the selection of results and the tools for presenting them. Each aspect will then be exercised by direct interaction with the system in small working groups, each comprising one tutor and four participants accessing one terminal in pairs. As the training can only be provided for a limited number of people, a key element of the material developed for the training courses will be its transferability to and applicability in future national training courses for RODOS operators. Learning Goals: After successful termination of the training course, the participants should be able to operate the RODOS system by themselves with the aid of the system documentation, in particular the user guide, answer decision makers' requests in emergency, exercise and training situations, and act as trainers in their countries by repeating the course after its adaptation to the national needs.
