At VNB’s discretion, each eligible customer will be provided a specific Overdraft Privilege limit—depending on the type of account they have. NSFOverdraft fees are included in the Overdraft Privilege limit. How Does It Work? If a customer makes a purchase and does not have sufficient (enough) funds (money) in their Checking Account to cover the purchase, VNB may elect to cover their overdrafts up to their Overdraft Privilege limit. As long as customers remain in good standing, make regular deposits into their accounts, bring their account to a positive balance within 30 calendar days and maintain a positive balance for one processing day, they will continue to receive Overdraft Privilege. Customers will be charged a $25 fee for each item presented against insufficient funds. For more information about Overdraft Privilege call Valley National Bank during regular hours at 505-753-2136. Common Financial Mistakes That Could Cost You Money Saving for the future is a great way to ease your mind—as well as your family’s! Time and money are two things that can easily slip away from us. Obviously, we have no control over time. To an extent, we do have some control over the money that we can or cannot accumulate over a lifetime. So what are some common financial blunders that we should try to avoid? The Feb. 2008 issue of Consumer Reports identifies a dozen money mistakes that could cost individuals a cool million dollars over a lifetime. Here are some of the errors: Underfunding a 401(k). The report recommends contributing to a 401(k) as much as you can afford. Cashing out your 401 (k) because of a career change is another mistake, according to the report. Carrying a credit –card balance is also a big no-no. Maintaining an unhealthy lifestyle can cost a person additional money when it comes to things like life insurance premiums and long range health costs. Other financial slip-ups include overpaying for your mortgage, launching a divorce war, falling for scams and underinsuring your home.
