Annual Canadian Investment Awards Gala last night in Toronto. Most notably, Peter Cundill, renowned

Analysts' Choice for Fund Manager of the Year

Determined by a group of 19 industry analysts, the Fund Manger of the Year award recognizes Cundill's
formidable expertise and superior track record as a value manager. Two of the longest running Cundill
funds, Mackenzie Cundill Value Fund and the Mackenzie Cundill Canadian Security Fund, have been
repeatedly included on Morningstar's coveted 5-star rated funds list, offering investors long-term returns
with low volatility. These funds have also exhibited contrarian sales patterns, posting substantial net sales
over periods when other funds have been in net redemptions. Three other funds for which Cundill is lead
manager also won awards last night.

"Peter is unquestionably top in his field and highly deserving of this honour," said David Feather, president,
Mackenzie Financial Services Inc. "Cundill is synonymous with value and Peter's steadfast dedication to
this philosophy is the reason behind the outstanding performance for which Cundill is renowned. Peter is an
exceptional manager and it is extremely rewarding to see his accomplishments recognized by the industry."

Also the founder of Vancouver-based Cundill Investment Research Ltd., Cundill was previously honoured
at the annual awards gala in 2001 with the Analysts' Choice Career Achievement Award. The award was in
recognition of Cundill's proven superior performance and his outstanding lifetime contribution to the
financial community, as determined by a panel of third-party analysts.

An advocate of Benjamin Graham's value approach since 1973, Cundill has applied his personal brand of
investment management for the last thirty years. Montreal-born, Cundill operates out of London, U.K. and
spends over 200 days a year traveling in search of value opportunities for Mackenzie funds.
For the second year in a row, a Mackenzie fund manager has been honoured with this distinction. Jerry
Javasky, lead manager of the Ivy family of funds, received the Analysts' Choice Fund Manager of the Year
award in both 1998 and 2002.
